LAND OF NOAH

My friend Maxime and I explored Armenia, starting in Sasunik for a wedding. We visited Noravank and Tatev Monasteries, marveled at ancient sites, and ventured to Old Khndzoresk village. Meghri offered beauty and history, from Lichk waterfalls to Meghri Fortress. We hiked Mount Aragats for stunning views and relaxed at Lake Sevan. Armenia, my motherland, left us with unforgettable memories.

My friend Maxime and I embarked on a journey to Armenia to immerse ourselves in the country’s rich culture and stunning landscapes. Our adventure began with a wedding in Sasunik, a charming village near Yerevan. The following day, we set off to explore the Syunik province, starting with Noravank Monastery nestled in a narrow gorge made by the Amaghu River, our next stop was Tatev the road leading to the Tatev Monastery passes through the deep Halidzor canyon, serpentinely cutting through the surrounding mountains.

On the following day of our trip was filled with more exploration, as we ventured to the iconic Tatev Monastery, a 9th-century Monastery, we marveled at the ancient architecture and soaked in the history of the region. The fascinating Old Khndzoresk village, known for its abandoned cave dwellings. After a day of hiking and sightseeing, we sought refreshment at the renowned Satani Kamurj, known as the « bridge of Satan. »

Our journey continued to Meghri, a unique village near the Iranian border. We were captivated by the beauty of the city, from the majestic Lichk waterfalls to the historic Meghri Fortress. Wandering through the streets of Pokr Tagh and Mets Tagh, we sampled the region’s renowned fruits, considered the best in all of Armenia.

As we made our way back to Yerevan, we couldn’t resist a detour to hike Mount Aragats, the highest peak in Armenia. The panoramic views from the summit left us in admiration of the country’s natural beauty.

Finally, we wrapped up our trip with a visit to Sevan Lake, where we lounged on sandy beaches and explored the cultural treasure of Sevanavank Monastery. Our culinary adventure concluded with a taste of local fish cooked in the traditional Armenian tonir, a fitting end to our unforgettable journey through Armenia, my mother land.
